John Bannister is a Consultant for Harwood Andrews Lawyers practicing in the Business Law Department. John brings the benefit of his broad experience to his clients, helping them to address the challenges, risks and opportunities of today’s business environment.

John is accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a specialist in Business Law. He has practiced law for more than 30 years and is also registered as a tax agent with the Tax Agents' Board.

John’s principal areas of practice are:-

•   Inter-generational transfer of assets
•   Asset protection
•   Property development
•   Companies, including not-for-profit companies and charities
•   Corporate development and restructuring

John has particular expertise in long-term business and investment planning, as well as the development of business and family structures. He also has specialist knowledge in the formation of strategies that balance ownership, control, capital, income, risk and taxation issues.

In addition, John has significant experience in providing counsel to charities and the not-for-profit sector, covering areas such as corporate restructure, corporate governance, director’s duties, obligations and liabilities.

John was a partner of law firm Price Higgins Solicitors and became a principal of Harwood Andrews Lawyers when the two firms merged in 2004.
