Joanne D’Andrea joined Harwood Andrews Lawyers’ litigation department as a senior associate in July 2008 to practice in the area of planning and local government law. However, Joanne’s arrival has also brought a wealth of knowledge in the area of immigration law, which supports the firm’s commitment to provide value added services to its clients.
Joanne has a Bachelor of Law/Arts and a Graduate Diploma (International Law) from the University of Melbourne. She commenced her career in law with a large Melbourne firm and, for many years, specialised in maritime and international law, acting primarily for international shipowners and their insurers. It was through this specialisation that Joanne began working in the area of immigration over ten years ago, initially assisting shipowners in circumstances where stowaways were found onboard ships bound for, or having arrived in, Australian waters.
As a Registered Migration Agent, Joanne specialises in business migration, assisting foreign and Australian companies and individuals with their immigration requirements. Joanne has particular expertise in assisting Australian businesses to sponsor and employ highly skilled foreign workers in Australia on both a temporary and permanent basis through the Sub-Class 457 regime and the Employer Nomination Scheme.
Joanne also has experience in facilitating the entry of foreign people into Australia as business owners, senior executives and skilled migrants.
Joanne has a detailed understanding of the complexities of the Australian immigration system and keeps up to date with the constantly changing laws and policies which impact significantly on Australian businesses. She has a strong appreciation of the potentially serious ramifications for employers and employees who fail to comply with this country’s complicated immigration system. It is armed with this knowledge that Joanne seeks to assist her clients.
