Practice Areas

Harwood Andrews Lawyers’ Wills and Estates team has substantial experience in helping clients appoint powers of attorney, which authorises a trusted person to act for them when they are overseas, hospitalised or no longer capable of looking after their own affairs.

We outline to clients the nature and consequences of a power of attorney and the circumstances in which a person can act on your behalf, as well as how the arrangement can be annulled.

We administer the formal requirements required by law that are associated with enacting the power of attorney, such as the preparation of the requisite documentation and their safekeeping.

We also advise clients in relation to the role of the Guardianship and Administrative List of the Victorian Council of Appeals and Tribunals, which can hear challenges for decisions made by the attorney.
