Fatigue Management Law Convictions

Simon Francis

Further to our April 2010 Alert article Transport company and its drivers held accountable for breaches of fatigue management legislation in Victoria, a further driver Gregory Anderson and his employer Pilgrim Transport owner Geoffrey Pilgrim have been convicted and fined in the Echuca Magistrates’ Court for breaching fatigue management laws.

The driver was found guilty of 13 charges of exceeding 12 hours of work in a 24 hour period and the employer was found guilty of 8 charges of allowing an employee to exceed the 12 hour workday. The charges resulted from the interception of the driver and subsequent investigation and are a timely reminder of the importance of complying with fatigue management laws.
